Bulk Animal Actions

When you need to update multiple animals at once, bulk actions apply the same operation to every selected animal in a single step — setting a color, assigning a sire, recording a sale, moving a pasture, and more.

How to Use Bulk Actions

1. Open a Group, Report or search result containing the animals you want to update.
2. Tick the animals you want, or use Select All.
3. Click Bulk Actions. The window opens showing how many animals are selected.
4. Click the card for the action you want, then click Continue.
5. Fill in the details for that action. Use Back if you picked the wrong one.
6. Click Apply.

Bulk Color

Update Color sets one coat color across the whole selection — useful after an import that left color blank, or when a set of animals was entered inconsistently.

1. Select the animals and open Bulk Actions.
2. Choose Update Color and click Continue.
3. Pick a color from Select Color.
4. Click Apply.

The color list is the built-in coat colors plus any custom animal colors your account has defined. If your account has Use only my custom colors switched on, only your custom colors are offered. See Default Settings and Custom Values to manage that list.

The selected color replaces whatever color the animals have now — there is no “only fill blanks” option, so narrow your selection first if that matters.

Bulk Sire and Dam

Update Sire and Update Dam assign one parent to every selected animal — the quick way to set parentage on a whole calf crop out of a single-sire pasture, or to correct an import that lost the pedigree.

The dropdown lists the animals eligible to be a sire or dam on your account, shown by ear tag (falling back to name or other tag).

Bulk Sale

Bulk sale sells multiple animals together with shared sale details:

• Sale Date — The date of the sale, applied to all selected animals.
• Price Method — Weight-based ($/lb or $/cwt) or total price.
• Sale Barn / Buyer — Where or to whom the animals were sold.
• Sale Barn Fees — Commission or fees deducted from the sale.

Each animal’s sale weight can be entered individually, or an average weight can be applied to the whole lot.

Tips

• Build the selection with a group or filter first. A smart group or a filtered search gets you exactly the right animals before you ever open the bulk window, which is safer than ticking rows by hand.
• Check the count at the top of the window. It tells you how many animals the action is about to touch.
• Actions that only apply to some animals skip the rest. Castrate only touches bulls; promote and demote only touch eligible animals. Nothing else in the selection is changed.
• Use Back, not Cancel, to change your mind. Back returns you to the action list with your selection intact.
• Delete is deliberately hard to trigger. It carries a High Impact badge and a confirmation checkbox, and cannot be undone from this screen.
• Schedule instead of applying when the work happens later — Create Action Task puts the same action on the calendar against this exact set of animals.
• Sales feed your financials. Bulk sales can generate sale tickets that appear automatically in your financial records.
