Editing an Animal

You can update any field on an animal record at any time. Changes are saved immediately and tracked in the audit log.

How to Edit an Animal

  1. Open the animal’s record.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Update the fields you want to change.
  4. Click Save.

What You Can Edit

All fields on the animal record are editable, including:

  • Identification — Ear tag, EID, freeze brand, name, tattoo, other tag, ear tag color.
  • Type and sex — Animal type and sex classification.
  • Status — Current status (Active, Sold, Dead, Missing, Reference).
  • Descriptive — Color, brand, castration, dehorned.
  • Calfhood — Birth date, birth weight, conception type.
  • Lineage — Sire and dam assignments.
  • Acquisition — Raised/Purchased, purchase date, purchase price.
  • Groups — Static group memberships.
  • Image — Upload or replace the animal photo.

Quick Edits

Some fields can be updated directly from the animal’s summary view without entering full edit mode:

  • Sire and Dam — Assign or change from the summary section.
  • Pasture — Assign directly from the summary.
