The Grazing Tab

Every pasture has a Grazing tab that shows how it’s being used over time — when animals were turned in and out, how long the pasture has rested, and how it’s stocked. It’s built automatically from your animal-to-pasture assignment history, so there’s nothing to enter by hand.

How to Open the Grazing Tab

  1. Open a pasture from the Pastures screen.
  2. Click the Grazing tab.

What You See

  • Status badgeCurrently Grazing or Resting, depending on whether animals are in the pasture now.
  • Rotation banner — If this pasture is part of a grazing rotation, a banner shows the rotation’s name and how many days until (or past) it’s due to move. Click it to open the rotation. See Creating a Grazing Rotation.
  • Stat cards:
    • Days Grazed (if currently grazed) or Rest Days (if resting).
    • Head In Pasture — Current animal count.
    • Head / Acre and Animal Units / Acre — Current stocking density.
  • Rotation History table — One row per turn-in/turn-out cycle, with Turn In, Turn Out, Head, Days Grazed, and Status (Active or Completed).

Tips

  • Turn animals in and out to build history. If the tab is empty, move animals into the pasture and back out to start generating grazing periods.
  • Use rest days to plan recovery. Tracking how long a pasture has rested helps you decide when it’s ready for animals again.
  • Watch Head/Acre and AU/Acre together. Head per acre alone doesn’t account for animal size — Animal Units per Acre gives a more accurate stocking picture.
