Starting Over: Resetting Account Data
If you need to wipe out data and start fresh — for example, after testing with sample records — Cattle360 lets the account owner selectively delete specific categories of data while keeping your account, users, billing, settings, and default groups intact.
This is only available to the account owner, and is separate from resetting a single animal to Active status (see Resetting an Animal to Active) and from deleting your account entirely.
How to Reset Selected Data
- Click Settings in the navigation menu.
- Go to Ranch Settings and find the Start Over (Reset Selected Data) section.
- Check the boxes for the data you want to permanently delete:
- Animals
- Breedings
- Custom Groups
- Pastures
- Financials (Transactions/Receipts)
- Workings
- Sale Tickets
- Custom Reports
- Fieldsheets
- Semen Inventory
- Embryos
- Animal Files
- Click Reset Selected Data.
- Review the confirmation dialog, which lists exactly what will be deleted, and confirm.
What Gets Kept
This reset is deliberately partial. Your users, account and ranch information, recurring payments/billing, settings, and the default seeded groups (like All Cattle, Active Bulls, Active Cows) are always preserved.
Dependent Data
Some categories are linked, so checking one may pull in others automatically to keep your data consistent:
- Checking Animals also deletes Sale Tickets, Workings, Embryos, and Breedings, since those all depend on animal records.
- Checking Semen Inventory also deletes Embryos.
- Checking Embryos or Semen Inventory also deletes Breedings.
The confirmation dialog always lists everything that will actually be deleted, including anything pulled in this way.
Tips
- This cannot be undone. Consider exporting your data first — see Exporting Your Data — if you might want a copy of what you’re about to delete.
- Select only what you need. You don’t have to reset everything at once — check only the categories you actually want cleared.
