Withdrawal / Waiting Period Report

The Withdrawal / Waiting Period report answers one question: which animals cannot go to town yet? It lists every treatment whose withdrawal date has not passed, with the days still to run.

How to Run It

  1. Go to Reports and click Withdrawal / Waiting Period.
  2. Click Edit Criteria and set your filters — a pasture or a sale group is the usual starting point.
  3. Click Run Report.

Columns

ColumnWhat it shows
Ear TagWhatever your account identifies animals by.
MedicationThe product that started the withdrawal.
DosageHow much was given.
Date AdministeredWhen it was given.
Withdraw DateThe date the animal is clear.
Days RemainingDays from today until the withdraw date.
PastureWhere the animal is standing now.

Rows are ordered by withdraw date, soonest first, so the animals closest to clearing are at the top.

What Counts as In Withdrawal

  • The treatment has a withdraw date recorded on it, and
  • that date is today or later.

A treatment whose withdrawal has already passed drops off the report. Days Remaining is counted against today and recalculated every time you run it, so the report is current without being edited.

The Most Important Thing to Know

This report only knows about withdrawal dates you recorded. A treatment saved without a withdraw date does not appear here, however recently it was given — there is nothing for the report to count from.

So a clean report is not proof that a group is clear; it is proof that nothing on record is holding them. If withdrawal matters to your operation, the discipline is to fill the date in on every treatment. See Tracking Withdrawal and Booster Dates.

Two other things this report does not cover:

  • Medicated feed. A feed can be marked medicated with a withdrawal period, but feeding it does not write a withdrawal onto the animals, so it will not appear here. Record it as a treatment if it needs tracking.
  • An animal treated twice appears on a row per treatment. The one that clears last is the one that matters — look at the latest withdraw date, not the first row you see.

What to Use It For

  • Before hauling to a sale. Filter to the sale group and run it — this is the report to check before the trailer is loaded, not after.
  • Picking a sale date. Days Remaining tells you how long you have to wait on the animals that are not clear.
  • Sorting a pen. The Pasture column tells you where to go to pull the ones that have to stay.

Tips

  • Export the PDF and put it on the wall. It is the kind of list somebody needs to check without opening a laptop.
  • Run it whole-herd occasionally. Filtering is good for a specific decision; the unfiltered run is how you find a withdrawal you had forgotten about.
