Creating a Tax Packet for Your Preparer
The tax packet gathers everything your tax preparer needs from Cattle360 for one year into a single ZIP file. You download it once and then email it or hand it over, instead of pulling reports and receipts one at a time.
Creating the Packet
- Open the Financial Dashboard or the Schedule F report.
- Click Tax Packet. On a phone, open Actions and choose Tax Packet for Preparer.
- Choose the Tax year. Packets always cover January 1 through December 31.
- Click Download packet. Building it can take a little while if you have many receipts. In the mobile app, the file is handed to the share sheet so you can save or send it.
If you pick the current year, the packet only has what has been recorded so far.
What’s Inside
- Summary & items to review — Year totals, plus the things your preparer is likely to ask about: transactions missing a receipt, lines to confirm, and animal sales that may belong on Form 4797.
- IRS Schedule F — The form with every line filled in from your categories.
- Line detail — Every transaction behind each Schedule F line, with subtotals.
- Transactions spreadsheet — The whole year as a CSV, showing each row’s Schedule F line and receipt file.
- Livestock sales & deaths — For each animal: raised or purchased, how long you held it, price, and buyer.
- Receipts — Every attached receipt, filed in folders by Schedule F line.
Tips
- Set Schedule F lines on your categories first. Amounts only land on the form when their category has a line. See Managing Financial Categories.
- Have your preparer confirm every figure. The packet is built from how you categorized your transactions. On lines 3 through 6, the full amount is shown as taxable because Cattle360 cannot tell what part is taxable.
- Some things are not included. Cattle360 does not track depreciation schedules or 1099s you received, so bring those separately.
