Navigating the Finance Workspace and Ledger
Cattle360 gives you two ways to view your financial data: the Overview (charts and key numbers) and the Ledger (every transaction in a list). Switch between them with the Overview and Ledger tabs under the page title.
Overview
The Overview is the default view when you open the Financial Dashboard. It shows:
- Summary cards for Income, Expenses, Net, Needs review, and Transactions, with the change from the previous period.
- A cash flow chart of income, expenses, and net over time.
- Breakdowns of expenses by category, income sources, and top vendors.
- Key stats such as profit margin, head sold, and receipt coverage.
See Financial Dashboard Overview for details on each part.
Ledger
The Ledger is a full transaction list. Along the top are tabs that filter the list in one click, each with a count: All, Income, Expenses, Needs Review, Missing Receipt, Uncategorized, and Large (over $1,000). Below them are the Filter button, a search box, and an export button.
Ledger Columns
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Date | The transaction date. Click the header to sort newest or oldest first. |
| Description | The transaction description, with the vendor and payment method underneath. Sale tickets show a “Sale” badge and links to the animals sold. An orange dot on the round initials badge means the transaction needs review; hover over it to see why. |
| Amount | Income is shown in green with a plus sign; expenses in black with a minus sign. Click the header to sort by amount. |
| Category | The assigned category. “Uncategorized” is highlighted in orange. Hover to see the full category path. |
| Groups & tags | The first group or tag the transaction is assigned to, with “+N” for any more. Hidden on narrower screens. |
| Receipt | A receipt icon when a receipt is attached (click to view it). Expenses without a receipt show an orange +; click it to edit the transaction and attach one. |
| ⋮ | A menu with Edit and Delete. |
Expanding a Transaction
Click any row to expand it. The expanded row shows the vendor, payment method, check number, groups and tags, and why it needs review. If a receipt with line items is attached, each line item is listed with its amount and category, lined up under the row's own columns. Buttons to Edit, View receipt, and Delete are at the bottom.
Totals
A bar at the bottom of the ledger shows how many transactions are showing and their income, expense, and net totals. The totals follow your tabs, search, and filters.
