Customizing Group Columns

Each group can display a customized set of data columns. This lets you show the information most relevant to that group’s purpose.

How to Customize Columns

  1. Open the group and click Edit Group.
  2. Switch to the Columns tab.
  3. Select or deselect columns to control which ones appear.
  4. Drag columns to reorder them.
  5. Click Save.

Columns Worth Knowing About

  • Last Seen — The date this animal was last found on a completed check. Blank means no completed check has ever found it. Pair it with the Last seen on a check criterion on a smart group and the column and the filter agree, because they share one definition. See The Last Seen Column.
  • Your custom fields — Every custom field on your account is offered as a column of its own, formatted to match its type. See Custom Fields.

When to Customize Columns

  • Sale lots — Show weight, sale price, and buyer columns.
  • Breeding groups — Show breeding status, sire, and due date columns.
  • Calf groups — Show birth date, birth weight, dam, and weaning status columns.
  • General herds — Show ear tag, type, sex, status, and pasture columns.

Tips

  • Less is more. Showing fewer, more relevant columns makes the group easier to scan.
  • Reorder for priority. Put the most important columns first so they’re visible without scrolling.
  • Each group has its own column settings. Customizing one group has no effect on other groups.
