Deleting a Group

If a group is no longer needed, you can delete it. Deleting a group does not delete the animals in it — they remain in your herd.

How to Delete a Group

1. Navigate to the Groups Dashboard.
2. Open the group you want to delete.
3. Click Delete (or the delete icon).
4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

What Happens

• The group is permanently removed from the Groups Dashboard.
• If the group was displayed on the main Dashboard, it is removed from there as well.
• Animals are not affected. All animals that were in the group remain in your herd with their records intact.
• Any financial transactions tagged to this group retain their tag for historical reporting, but the group will no longer appear as an active selection.

When to Delete a Group

• Temporary groups — Groups created for a specific purpose (e.g., a sale lot) that are no longer relevant.
• Duplicate groups — A group that was created by accident.
• Reorganization — You’re restructuring how you organize your herd.

Important Notes

• This action is permanent. Deleted groups cannot be recovered. You would need to re-create the group and re-add animals.
• Smart group criteria are lost. If you delete a smart group, the filter criteria are deleted with it.
• Consider renaming instead. If users or reports reference the group, renaming or editing it may be better than deleting.
