Setting Report Criteria
Report criteria define which animals appear in the report. Without criteria, the report shows all animals. Adding criteria filters the results to a specific subset.
How to Set Criteria
- In the report editor, find the Criteria or Filters section.
- Click Add Criteria.
- Select the field to filter on (e.g., Status, Animal Type, Birth Date).
- Choose the operator (equals, contains, greater than, between, etc.).
- Enter the value to match.
- Add more criteria as needed. Multiple criteria are combined — animals must match all conditions.
Common Filter Examples
| Report Goal | Criteria |
|---|---|
| All active cows | Status = Active AND Type = Cow |
| Calves born this year | Type = Calf AND Birth Date ≥ Jan 1, 2026 |
| Animals over 1,000 lbs | Current Weight > 1000 |
| Pregnant heifers | Sex = Heifer AND Breeding Status = Pregnant |
| Purchased animals | Acquired = Purchased |
| Animals sold this year | Status = Sold AND Sale Date ≥ Jan 1, 2026 |
Tips
- Start broad, then narrow. Begin with one or two criteria and add more to focus the results.
- Use date ranges for seasonal reports. Filter by birth date, sale date, or breeding date to create calving season, marketing, or breeding reports.
- Combine with smart groups. If you already have a smart group with the criteria you need, consider viewing that group with custom columns instead of creating a separate report.
