Reopening and Removing a Check
A finished check isn’t the end of it. You can put one back in progress, or take one off the list entirely.
Reopening a Check
Finishing is the only way to record what you didn’t see, so it gets used as a stopping point as much as a completion — a ride cut short gets finished off in the field and picked up hours later. Reopening carries that roster on instead of starting a second check over the same ground.
- On the Checks dashboard, find the completed check.
- Click the pencil icon on the card.
- Confirm. The message tells you how many not-seen animals will go back on the to-find list.
The check goes back to In Progress and its card moves up into the in-progress group, which is how you know it worked. Tap it from there to carry on.
- Everything you already found stays found. Only the animals recorded as not seen go back to To Find.
- The reopen button only appears on a completed check. An open one is already where reopening would put it.
- Last Seen is recalculated when you finish again, because only completed checks count.
Removing a Check
- On the Checks dashboard, click the trash icon on the card.
- Confirm.
The check disappears from the list along with its roster and results.
- Nothing happens to your animals. Removing a check does not change any animal record.
- It does change Last Seen. If an animal’s most recent sighting was on the check you removed, its Last Seen falls back to the one before it — or goes blank if there wasn’t one.
Remove a check that was started by mistake or duplicates another. For a check you simply want to correct, reopen it instead.
Permissions
Reopening and removing need write permission. Read-only users can open and export a check but see no action buttons on the cards.
Tips
- Reopen rather than re-check. Two checks over the same ground on the same day make the history harder to read, and the second starts from nothing.
- Reopen before you sort out a bad roster. If a check was started against the wrong pasture, remove it rather than working through a list that was never right.
